Pastures & Purpose
The Guilty Goat is a whimsical 10-acre farm tucked into Florence, Vermont, where happy animals and gentle routines shape each day. Our small herd and flock—goats, chickens, ducks, and more—are all lovingly named, and spend their days enjoying fresh air, little walks, and plenty of brushing.
Surrounded by buzzing bees, blooming flowers, and sun-ripened berries, everything we do is rooted in care for the land and the animals who call it home. It’s this simple, joyful approach that brings a bit of magic to every scoop of gelato.
Rooted in Values
Small-Batch
We churn only a few gallons at a time, ensuring every pint meets our exacting standards for texture and flavor.
Local Roots
Beyond our milk, we source maple syrup from Vermont neighbors who share our love for the land.
Sustainability
From recycled packaging to rotational grazing, we aim to leave our Vermont fields better than we found them.
Animal Care
Our goats are family. We prioritize their health and happiness, knowing that calm animals produce the best milk.
Gentle on the Land
Regenerative Grazing
Our Nubian goats rotate through fresh Vermont pastures, naturally fertilizing the soil and promoting diverse plant growth. This cycle keeps our land vibrant and our herd healthy.
Zero-Waste Production
From our solar-powered churns to recycled packaging , we minimize our footprint. Any fruit scraps from our berries go straight back to our happy chickens.
The Hands Behind the Herd
Chelsea & Emmy
Life on our farm is built by hand—early mornings in the quiet, long afternoons in the fields, and everything in between. It’s just the two of us here: a mother and her daughter, Emmy, working side by side through every season. At 12, Emmy is the heart of the herd—the first to greet the goats, the one who knows each personality, and the reason this whole journey began.

We didn’t start as farmers. We started as people who simply loved good food—real food, thoughtfully made, and close to where it came from. That love slowly pulled us closer to the source. What began as a curiosity turned into a calling, and before long, it became our daily life.

Now, from cold winter mornings in the barn to warm summer days in the pasture, everything we do is done together. We raise our animals, tend our land, and make our gelato the same way—with care, patience, and intention. The milk, the honey, the berries—each part is something we’ve grown, gathered, or nurtured ourselves.
This isn’t just a farm, and it isn’t just gelato. It’s the result of choosing to live differently—to build something honest, to work with our hands, and to share that experience with others. Every pint carries a piece of that story: the seasons, the work, and the love we put into it every single day.
